iPhone & G1 will now run Mobile Ads by Google

As every web service is looking to customize itself for iPhone & G1,Google has also announced customized ads for iPhone & G1 and for any other smartphone supporting a Full HTML browser.
Google Ads,that we see on desktop PC/laptops are of different size compared to Ads for Mobile platforms such as iPhone and that’s why there is now a separate option in your AdWords account settings to enable Ads for mobile platform or desktop or both.

Shopnics helps you decide what’s “Value for Money” and what’s not !
There are countless websites today that let you buy a product online.Major players like eBay and Amazon have evolved e-commerce to such an extent that it’s not more than a child’s play to buy an item online.
But it often happens to most of us that after purchasing a product,we realise that we should have bought a better ‘Value for Money’ product from a different manufacturer, which was available but we didn’t know about it earlier.Hence, any suggestions before making a final decision for a purchase is generally welcomed but no suggestions(from friends & colleagues) are well researched and updated.
This problem of “Intelligent decision-making” is getting addressed by Shopnics
Shopnics lets you compare electronic gadgets and also suggests you the best ‘Value for Money’ deals. The broad comparison of multiple brands for a particular item(say Laptop) is presented on a single page in More »

5 Reasons why i’m still on Chrome !

After having a look at last month’s user statistics,i realized that many of Chrome users have shifted back to their earlier browsers(mostly Firefox) after experimenting with the browser created by Google.
And there are reasons for this ‘Back to Basics’ reaction of majority. There are numerous grey areas where Chrome isn’t that cool and Google has plenty of homework to do before releasing the next version of Chrome(biggest lacking being NO Add-ons).
But Chrome has still found success in securing a bigger marketshare(more than 2%) within a couple of months than many years older Opera and giving stiff competition to Apple’s Safari(although Chrome is still to release a Mac version). More »
A Smart Marketing Stint By Microsoft(India)…But I’m skeptical !!

Today,i went to Microsoft’s Live Search again(after a really long time),just to take a look at the latestmarketing stint they are upto. And it seems that the marketing folks at MS,India are experimenting some cheap but innovative ways to market their doomed search engine(and it’s still doomed).

Every search you make will trigger two dices at the top of search results page the the dices will start rolling.A few seconds after, when both the dices More »

Web apps have made our lives quite easy(and fun). Here’s another such web service(they have their app onfacebook as well) that makes it quite easy for you to organize group gifts and wishlists online. The service we are talking about is Wisheo.
Wisheo takes a new innovative approach to group gifts and wishlists. Its unique approach enables people to give or receive a few good gifts instead of many “unwanted” gifts.Users can setup group gifts and wishlists for special occasions and have multiple people contribute towards the same gift.
It allows people in an easy and fun way to pool their money together and buy awesome gifts. It seems a good solution for eliminating usual hassles with organizing group gifts including the hassle of sending emails back and forth and collecting all the contributions. More »

A Brief-Up for a Newbie : “Server-side Scripting”

It seems odd for a moment but its a fact that most of the folks who proudly call themselves ‘web freaks’ don’t even know basics about web architecture.I actually came across some awful misconceptions about “Server-side Scripting” over a forum (by tens of folks out there) and thought of writing a post to elucidate the actual meaning of “Server-side scripting”.
I will take care that the post doesn’t turn ‘too geeky to be digestible’.
What is Server-side Scripting ?
“Server-side Scripting” is basically about programming the server as per your requirements. Its done to make your website, hosted on that server become artificially intelligent(pre-programmed for a set of inputs from the user). It is basically used to facilitate interactive websites More »
