TikTok’s parent company forays into search engine business

ByteDance, the parent company of the popular short video app TikTok, has quietly launched its own search engine in China. This search engine is called ‘Wukong Search’ and its app is now available in Apple’s app store and Android store in China. Through this app, Chinese people can search for all types of products and services. With the launch of its own search engine, ByteDance will now compete with Baidu, which is the most dominant search engine in China. Notably, search engine giant Google has been banned in China since 2010, which eventually helped Baidu in gaining monopoly in the Chinese market.

Tata Neu may soon launch stock broking services  

 

Tata’s recently launched super app Tata Neu may soon offer stock broking services through its app. According to Entrackr, Tata Neu will roll out the stock broking services with the help of Tata Fintech, which has already applied for stock broking license from SEBI. With this foray, Tata Neu will compete with the likes of Zerodha, Upstox and Groww. Interestingly, Tata’s emeritus Chairman Ratan Tata also owns a minority stake in Upstox. Launched in April with huge fanfare, Tata Neu brings Tata’s all leading digital services and apps in one single platform. Tata Neu has been partially inspired from the success of super apps in the Chinese market.

Elon Musk’s Never Seen Before Photos put on auction by Ex-Girlfriend

Nearly eighteen photos of never before seen photos of tech billionaire Elon Musk have been put on auction by his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Gwynne. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO dated Gwynne during the college days when both were in their 20’s. In most of the photos Musk is seen living a carefree life and enjoying his youthful. The minimum bidding price has been set at $100 per photo. Gwynne said that the money collected through the auction will be used for the education of his step son. Gwynne has put these photos in auction at a time when Musk’s sex life has making lot of headlines.

HDFC buys stake in IPO Bond Go Digit Insurance

India’s largest private sector bank HDFC has announced that it will buy nearly 10% stake in the insurance startup GO Digit Life Insurance. The banking giant said that it will invest nearly Rs 50- 70 crore to buy 10% stake in the Pune based startup. HDFC already has a wide-spread presence in the insurance sector where the company sells its own insurance products. GO Digit Life Insurance had applied for the IPO with market regulator SEBI only a few weeks back. GO Digit is backed by several big names including Canadian financial giant Fairfax. India’s former cricket captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma also owns a minority stake in Go Digit.

Legendary businessman John Mcafee has faked his death and is still alive. This sensational claim has been made by Mcafee’s ex-girlfriend Samantha Herrera in Netflix documentary ‘Running with Devil,’ a documentary that tries to shed life on Mcafee’s controversial life. However, this claim has been outrightly denied by Mcafee’s wife Janice Dyson, who said he is very much dead. Mcafee died in the Spanish prison last year due to alleged suicide. Mcafee is better known for founding the famous anti-virus company Mcafee. However, it was his controversial life, where he was accused of murder & tax evasion, that brought him lot of negative publicity during his lifetime.
