BBC TASTER VR CONTENT APP

BBC is bringing its VR content to smartphones through its App Taster. It will also feature a 360-degree video content from its popular series “Planet Earth”. BBC is trying hard to stay competitive with its recent investments in media technologies to compete against the likes of Netflix and youtube. Moreover, it is also planning to launch animated series in future through apps VR technology.

GOOGLE WLL GO RENEWABLE ENERGY PATH BY SEPTEMBER

 Alphabet Google’s units headquarter will receive completely renewable energy from Norwegian wind farm by September this year. Google had signed an exclusive deal of 12-year wind electricity supply. This stands for the 100 percent production capacity of the wind farm. Google has also invested in purchasing wind energy from another firm in Sweden. After which the total renewable energy at Google’s disposal will reach 500 MW by 2018. This is a crucial positive step by Google in ensuring a better tomorrow.

$735 MILLION INVESTMENT IN CHINA’S EV INFRA FROM DAIMLER

The German car manufacturer Daimler has come together into a partnership with China’s BAIC Motor Corporation. Daimler will invest $735 million in the electric vehicle infrastructure in the Chinese region. A large amount of money will go into a Chinese battery factory joint venture with Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. The full amount will come to realisation by 2020. All the investment will solely go into electric car manufacturing.

AMERICAN STARTUP VISA POSSIBLE BY THIS MONTH

American authority is considering a startup visa programme to encourage talents to enter their country. This is contrary to Trump’s vision of America. However, the terms and conditions will rule this scheme. One such is that the period is short (two and a half years) when compared to other countries. The program might start by 17th of July 2017.

While speaking at the University of Chicago the former president pressed on the need for equal debate rather than imposing one’s own reality onto others. According to him, it is important that a common goal is understood by all for the cause of development and prosperity.

Volvo has announced that it will go all electric with its cars though some models will have conventional engines. However, some sort of electric power will aid these engines. So, come 2019 Volvo’s all new cars will possess some degree of electric component powering its engines. How the other car manufacturers would respond to this will be interesting to see.

BAIDU OPENSOURCE FOR SLEF DRIVING CARS

Baidu the largest search engine provider from China is going full speed with its plan for an open source platform “Apollo” for self-driving car technology. It has even forged a formidable partnership with 50 other parties from across the globe. Some of them are the Nvidia, Bosch, Ford and other prominent Chinese firms.

KOREAN BITCOIN EXCHANGE ATTACKED

Hackers hacked into the largest cryptocurrency Exchange of Korea. The news confirms that at least one user lost up to $1 million in this attack. The Bithumb exchange where this attack took place is the 5th largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world. The exchange has admitted hacking of 30,000 customers details. The customers so far have received marginal compensation from the exchange.

APPLE PLANS TO REDUCE ITS DEPENDENCE ON SAMSUNG

Apple is reportedly considering a reduction in its dependence on Samsung by going through a huge deal with LG for OLED displays. The deal is reported to be around $2 billion. If it goes through then Apple will reduce its procurement from Samsung. However, Samsung only comes to qualify to the strict quality standards of Apple’s requirement. Therefore it is still not clear whether this deal will go through soon. The deal will see investment by Apple in 6th generation OLED displays.

INDIA CONSIDERING PRIVATE RIDE SHARING TO CUT TRAFFIC

India is examining the possibility of private vehicle ride sharing to reduce the traffic on roads. Right now to legally share rides for profits is prohibited and if the government decides to go ahead then it will be a boom for the likes of Uber and Ola. Moreover, during the odd/even scheme in Delhi, many companies sprung up to provide private car ride-sharing apps. The prominent one is from France’s Bla Bla Car.
