How to prevent others from recording your screen on a Mac

Screen recording can be a useful tool, but it can also be a security risk. If you’re concerned about someone recording your screen without your permission, there are a few things you can do to prevent it.

First, make sure you have the latest version of macOS. Apple includes security updates in every new release, so keeping your software up to date is the best way to protect your computer.

Next, open System Preferences and click on Security & Privacy. Look for the section labeled “Screen Recording” and make sure that the box next to “Allow screen recording” is unchecked. This will prevent any apps from starting a screen recording without your permission.

If you want to be extra careful, you can also disable the built-in screen recording feature in QuickTime Player. To do this, open QuickTime Player and go to File > New Movie Recording. In the window that opens, click on the drop-down menu next to the record button and uncheck “Enable Screen Recording.”

With these steps, you’ll make it much harder for someone to record your screen without your knowledge.

There are a few different apps that can do this, such as Cisdem Screen Recorder for Mac and StopTheMadness. These apps will block all screen recording requests, so even if an app is allowed to record your screen in System Preferences, it will be blocked by the app.
