Amazon has finally unveiled waterproof kindle, almost 10 year after it introduced the first ever kindle into the market. The Seattle based internet giant has built the all new water proof kindle on kindle oasis, which was launched in the market last year in April.
The news of kindle oasis coming with water proof feature will surely be rejoiced by kindle users, since they have been requesting for this essential feature for a long time now. The company has reportedly tested the new e-book reader in in two meters of water for nearly one hour. It also tested the device in varied water conditions, like hot tubs, pools, and bubble baths.
Meanwhile, the new kindle oasis comes with lot of additional features, including 7 inch display ( 1 inch bigger than the predecessor) and built-in battery. It is also inserted with couple of extra LED lights to offer more brighter view to readers. Besides, the device comes along with ambient light sensors that help in adjusting brightness according to external lighting condition.
But the biggest feature is undeniably the deep audible integration. Thanks to this integration, which is backed by Whispersync for Voice technology, users can listen to an audiobook and then switch to textual version without losing the sync.
The all new Kindle Oasis will be available for preorder from today itself, while Amazon will start shipping the device to market from October end. The basic market price for the device starts at $250 for the 8GB model and 280 for a 32GB model. The company is also offering $350 model along with free cellular connectivity, which will enable users to downloads e-book without wi-fi connection.
With the launch of waterproof kindle, Amazon will now be able to directly challenge the main competitor Kobo, which launched its own waterproof e-book reader few years back.
