WhatsApp Reportedly hit by a Data Breach

Cyber criminals preying on precious online data has now almost become a mundane thing. But when platform like WhatsApp come under the orbit of hackers then it will most certainly send sense of panic among millions of users. According to media reports, the data of nearly 500 Mn Whatsapp users has been leaked online and put on sale on a popular hacking community forum. The identity of hackers and the hacking group remains unidentified. WhatsApp’s parent company Meta is yet to confirm the news. As per the media reports, the data breach has affected several countries including the U.S, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and India.

Launching a blue tick verification service billed at $8 was one of the many big changes that Twitter rolled out in the aftermath of Elon Musk’s takeover. But as we all know that the launch of service created lot of chaos and Musk had to abruptly stop the service. However, barely few days back Musk announced that the verification service is once again gearing up for a launch. This service will be launched next week and will be multicolor and won’t just rely on a blue tick. Under the new arrangement, gold checkmark will be allotted to companies while government officials will be allotted to be individuals.

Amazon to Shut Down its Food Delivery Business

E commerce giant Amazon has said that it will bring curtains down on its losing making food delivery business in India. The e-commerce giant had entered India’s $20 food tech market nearly three years back in a bid to take on established players like Zomato and Swiggy. However, Amazon Food never really took off and remained a minor player during the last three years. Last week, Jeff Bezos’ company announced that it will shut down the e learning platform Amazon Academy in India as part of its cost-cutting measure. To fend off economic recession, Amazon is going really big on cost cutting measure. The company has already announced that it will lay off nearly 10,000 employees in the coming weeks.

Jio to take on Instagram Reel, Plans to Foray into Short Video Space

Instagram Reel and YouTube Shorts will soon have to new competitor and that new competitor is none other than Reliance Jio – India’s no 1 telecom service provider. According to media reports, Jio has signed a contract with popular magazine Rolling Stone India and advertising agency Creative Land Asia to mark its foray into the short video space. Jio’s short video platform is likely to go live as early as January 2023. Apart from competing with Instagram Reel and YouTube Shorts, Jio’s platform will also compete with home grown players like Josh and Moj. But denting a short video won’t be easy for Jio considering that the market is already over-crowded.

Elon Musk claims will make a new Phone if Twitter booted out from Google & Apple App Store

Elon Musk announced last week on Twitter that he would go to the extend of manufacturing a new phone if Apple and Google decide to remove Twitter from its respective play store. Musk’s tweet was in response to growing concern among many people that Twitter app run the risk of losing its place in the Apple’s App store and Google Play Store. Critics argue that some of extraordinary changes that Twitter has gone through during last few weeks does not quite go well with safety and security measure uphold by Google and Apple’s App stores. By the way, reports are already rife in the American media that Tesla is already in the midst of manufacturing a Smart Phone called Tesla Pi.
