TikTok may soon launch its own music app
Spotify and Apple music may soon have a strong competitor. And that competitor is none other than TikTok. According to reports, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance had filed a trademark application for ‘TikTok Music’ with the U.S. patent office in May. By the way, ByteDance already operates a music app by the name of ‘Resso app’ in developing markets like India, Brazil and Indonesia. However, this will be the first time that ByteDance will launch a music app under the brand name of TikTok – which we all know – is today the most dominant app in the short video space.

Indonesia blocks payment service PayPal
Last week Indonesia blocked payment service website PayPal, search engine website Yahoo as well as several other websites. The Indonesian government said that they blocked these websites as they failed to renew the licenses. However, it was the blocking of PayPal that attracted severe backlash from the Indonesian citizens. With the online service payment getting blocked, citizens and companies had a hard time in receiving and processing their payments. The freelancing community and the online gaming industry were reportedly most affected by the blocking of PayPal service. Faced with severe criticism, the Indonesian government has now sought to temporarily unblock PayPal. PayPal has so far not issued any official statement on this matter.

Elon Musk may build his own ‘personal airport’
According to reports, Elon Musk is planning to build his own personal airport outside Austin in Texas. However, the information available in the public domain is still very sketchy and not much is known about Musk’s ambitious plan. Having a private airport in ‘Austin’ will prove to be more than beneficial for Musk since the headquarters of two of his companies – Tesla and The Boring Company – are located in the same location. But mind you, even if Musk goes ahead with this plan, it would take years to build this airport. The world’s richest man, by the way, is currently dominating the media headlines for his ongoing legal trail against Twitter.

Swiggy is shifting to ‘remote working’ permanently
Foodtech delivery company Swiggy has announced that it will now permanently shift to ‘remote working.’ The Bengaluru based company was already following remote working policy since the outbreak of COVID, with its entire top-to-mid management team as well as technical team working from home. Swiggy will now join the likes of other well-funded startups like NoBroker, Meesho, Spinny and Magicpin that have also shifted to remote working on permanent basis. Even though many state governments have lifted the COVID restrictions, many companies are still hesitating in shifting their employees back to office.

China’s rocket crashes back to Earth
A powerful Chinese rocket that was launched on 24th June has crashed back to earth. The video of debris of a Chinese rocket falling down from the sky has already gone viral on the social. This rocket is believed to have fallen down in the Indian Ocean near Malaysia. So far there has not been any report on the loss of life or property due to the falling of this rocket. Meanwhile, NASA has criticized China for publicly disclosing the exact trajectory and path of their falling rocket. NASA said that disclosing this critical information helps in mitigating the risk whenever debris of space rocket crashes back to earth.
