Apple Tenders Apology Over iPhone Slowdown Fiasco

Apple Issues apology over iPhone slowdown drama.

Apple on Friday tendered public apology to customers after the tech giant admitted last week that it intentionally slowed down the batteries of several iPhone models for offering better user experience. Apple has sought to assuage angry customers, who have already filed class suits over the issue, by offering to replace their out of warranty batteries at 50% discount. The replacement process will begin in late January next year and will continue till the end of the year.

The tech giant said in a written apology “We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize.” But added further in a defensive tone that “there’s been a lot of misunderstanding over the issue.”

The smartphone major has been on the receiving end after few curious Reddit users recently spotted that iPhone 6 and several other model’s performances had taken a hit immediately after an IOS update. The revelation triggered off several class lawsuits against the company. More lawsuits followed, after last week Apple publicly admitted that it had indeed intentionally slowed down the batteries of several Iphone models through an IOS update. It justified the controversial move by claiming that the feature was deliberately inserted to “prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down” and thereby giving an uninterrupted user experience to consumers.

However, this justification failed to assuage the angry petitioners as they claimed that Apple’s less than transparent policies pushed them to replace old iPhone models with new ones, when they could have fixed the problem by merely replacing the aging batteries and thereby saving fortunes of money.

Apple for long has been suspected of deliberately slowing down the older models to push the sales of its newly launched devices. But this is probably the first time that the company has not only publicly admitted to following this controversial practice but also issued a public apology over the same.
