Stay Alert ! Lock Your WP Blog Before Its Hack

bloglockdownAlthough blog publishing platforms(both Free and Self-hosted) are plenty to choose from but WordPress, the Open source blogging platform has simply outperformed all of its competitors (Blogger.com as well) and can certainly be called the ‘De Facto’ standard as a blogging platform on the web.

It’s regularly updated versions, flawless User Interface and ease of use has made it the ‘Favorite platform’ among the blogging fraternity. But as the WordPress blogs are populating on web,  wordpress blog hacking incidents are becoming more frequent than ever.

Most of the hacks are because of some silly security holes that the ‘majority Non-techie & Care-free folks’ leaves here and there. The hackers take advantage of such holes and take control of the blogs and delete or modify your stuff, leaving you in big pain.

Those who persue ‘Blogging’ seriously are relatively more conscious about their web property but sometimes get into troubled situations.

One needs to understand that ‘WordPress’ is an open source and free platform to use. As WordPress doesn’t charge even a single penny from the bloggers for the platform it provides, it holds no responsibility of providing you any level of security from unethical hackers and hence it’s only you who has to bother about your property on web.

As the most basic and effective method, one simply needs to set a non-associated(NOT your name or DOB) password that’s complex enough to remember. It recommended to keep your password alpha-numeric and also use special letters($,@..) as well. It’s also suggested to note it down somewhere for your own reference as well. Taking timely backup of your blog is also a nice habit. Rest just search google for hacking security tips. Hope, you would find some better ideas.
