How to Take a Screenshot on a Mac

There are several ways to take a screenshot on a Mac. The simplest way is to press Shift-Command (⌘)-3. This will take a screenshot of the entire screen and save it as a .png file on your desktop.

You can also take a screenshot of just a portion of the screen by pressing Shift-Command-4 instead. This brings up a crosshair; you can click and drag to select the area you want to capture, then release the mouse button or trackpad to take the screenshot.

There are other options for taking screenshots as well. To learn more, check out Apple’s support article on the topic.

How Do You Crop a Screenshot on a Mac

To crop screenshot Mac, open the screenshot in the Preview app and select the ‘Crop’ tool from the toolbar. Then, drag the edges of the screenshot to crop it to the desired size. When you’re finished, click ‘File > Save’ to save the cropped screenshot.

    How to Edit a Screenshot

Open the screenshot in the Preview app. If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to open the screenshot.

Or open the Photos app and double-click the screenshot to open it.

Click the Edit button in the toolbar.

To select another area of your screenshot, click and drag around your selection. To move your selection, click and drag it. To resize your selection, drag one of its handles. To cancel making a change, press the Esc (Escape) key. When you’re done making your changes, click Done (in the upper-right corner of the window).

    How to Share a Screenshot

Assuming you already have a screenshot saved to your computer (in PNG format), follow these steps to share it with someone else:

    • Open the screenshot in the Preview app. This is usually the default app for opening image files on a Mac
    • In the top menu bar, click on File > Export.
    • In the resulting popup window, choose where you want to save the file, give it a name, and then select the file format you want to use. For sharing purposes, PNG or JPG are usually best.
    • Once the file is saved, you can either attach it to an email or share it via a messaging app or social media platform.

How to Save a Screenshot on a Mac

    Conclusion
