BharatPe’s CEO and co-founder Ashneer Grover has finally resigned from the fintech company. This possibly marks an end to the high octane drama that was triggered after Grover’s controversial phone call to Kotak Mahindra’s executive got leaked on the social media in January this year.
In his resignation letter, Grover left no stone unturned in accusing the company’s investors of trying to vilify him and tarnish his image. The investors that Grover has openly accused in his resignation letter include some big names like Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital, Steadview Capital and Beenext.
All the BharatPe’s investors have chosen to remain tight-lipped ever since this saga unfolded and they are unlikely to comment even after Grover’s resignation.
Grover has quoted following words in his resignation letter, “I write this with heavy heart as today I am being forced to bid adieu to a company of which I am a founder. I say this with head held high that today this company stands as a leader in the fintech world. Since the beginning of 2022, unfortunately I have been embroiled in baseless and targeted attacks on me and my family by a few individuals who are ready not only to harm me and my reputation but also harm the reputation of the company for which they are ostensibly trying to protect.”
Grover also lamented in his letter that from being celebrated as one of the poster boys of India’s entrepreneurship story, today he has been reduced to fighting a lonely battle.
There is still no clarity what will happen to Grover’s stake in BharatPe. Whether he will sell his stake or keep it in tact. According to reports, Grover owns 9% stake in the company.
