India wants to have a veto power to reverse Facebook & Twitter’s content moderation decision

The Indian government is planning to setup a new panel that will have the veto power to undo the social media platform’s content moderation decision. What does this mean is that tomorrow Facebook & Twitter decides to ban a certain content but if the Indian government feels that Twitter & Facebook has acted unfairly. In such a scenario, this govt panel can directly ask Facebook & Twitter to remove the ban over the content. If India does setup such a panel to control social media platforms then India will become a first country in the world to do so. However, such a decision is likely to evoke sporadic and sharp reaction from opposition parties as well as social activists.

Elon Musk threatens to kill the Twitter deal

Elon Musk has warned that he will walk off from the $44Bn Twitter deal if the company does not disclose exact information about its fake and spam accounts. For all those who don’t know, Musk had temporarily blocked the Twitter deal in March, arguing that fake and spam accounts make for more than 5% of the micro-blogging platform’s total accounts. The microblogging company, on other hand, has denied Musk’s claims. We’ll come to know about the actual fate of the Twitter deal only in the coming weeks. But one cannot deny that the world has already witnessed enough drama in the Elon Musk-Twitter deal saga.

Apple launches the new version of its best-selling Macbook

Tech giant Apple has released a latest version of MacBook Air, which is by far the company’s best-selling laptop. The tech giant unveiled the latest version of the MacBook Air in its annual tech conference on Monday. The latest MacBook Air comes with Apple’s newest M2 chip, which will supposedly make this MacBook work more efficiently and faster. The new MacBook Air will  also look more thinner and sleeker than the previous version. By the way, as was expected, Apple unveiled a slew of new products at its WWDC tech conference, including a new OS for iPhones – the IOS 16.

Bored Ape Yacht Club gets hacked again

The Yuga labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club – the most popular NFT in the world, has been hacked for the second time this year. Last weekend, a crypto community OkHotShot had reportedly hacked a Yuga labs’ discord channel. As a result, investors lost NFTs worth over $360000 due this hacking incident. Earlier this year, the world’s largest NFT marketplace OpenSea was also hacked. These hacking incidents have come at a time when the craze over NFTs is witnessing a rapid slowdown. During the last few months, NFT sales have reportedly crashed by as much as 60% – 80%.
