With the amount of time we spend on social media it is difficult to keep track of the conversations we have on them. And these conversations are not just across one account- most of us have more than one account. So, it is hardly a surprise that if you have to remember old conversations it is going to be difficult. To this end, if you are using facebook, it is best to archive your messages rather than delete them. If you delete a message permanently then the message cannot be retrieved but an archived message can be unarchived. If you have archived your emails then it will be a familiar thing for you.
Archiving a message on facebook is quite simple. There is a ‘x’ button next to each message. The ‘x’ button does not delete your messages but archives it. All you have to do is click on that to archive a message. Whenever a message comes from the same person then you will get the archived message along with the new message. So, basically archiving on facebook means just hiding the messages from you rather than removing them from the conversation.
Now if you have to unarchive the message this is how you do it. First go to the message section. On the left of Search Message you can see a magnifier or eye glass icon. Click on the icon and you will get a menu with various options like Unread messages, Archived messages and so on. Click on archived messages. Now you will get a list of all the messages that you have archived. Just select the message that you want to be unarchived and click on unarchive option. If you have a lot of archived messages then you should search for the name of the person whose messages have to be unarchived.
There is also another way of unarchiving. All you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the message list to find a link on the bottom left hand corner. This is the link to your archived messages. Just click on it and you will get the unarchived messages list.
Now if you are using facebook messenger you can still unarchive your message by logging into facebook and following the above steps. Or you can do it from facebook messenger directly. Even if you are using a facebook messenger the actions remain the same.
On the facebook messenger and go the messages section and go through your messages. Again you will find an eye glass or magnifier icon on the right hand side. Click on it to get a list of archived messages. Click on the message that you want to be unarchived. Confirm that you want it to be unarchived and it is done.
The worst thing that can happen on to anyone who uses facbook regularly is to lose the thread of the conversation. Archiving message helps you in not recollecting that thread. So unless it is really uninmportant it is best to archive messages rather than delete them.
