How to Edit the Registry in Windows 8

This articles aims to help you learn how to edit registries in Windows 8 using registry editor.

How to open registry editor ?

Method One

Press Windows key + R to open the command prompt. In the command prompt, type ‘regedit’ (without the quotes) and press enter. Windows will ask you for confirmation, select ‘yes’. This will open the Registry Editor.

Method Two

Go to the Metro UI Start screen and type: regedit.
Right click on the regedit icon, and select ‘Run as administrator’.

How to edit a registry ?

1. Run the registry editor.

2. Explore the registry in the registry editor you want to edit.

3. Select the registry your want to edit.

4.  Right click on the registry and select ‘Modify’.

5. Enter the value in the ‘Value data’ field.

6. Click ‘Ok’ to make changes.

7. Close the registry editor.
