Google’s AI startup DeepMind has unveiled a new AI system that can easily outsmart human fact-checkers when verifying the accuracy of information generated by the Large Language Models or LLMs. This method has been officially named as ‘SAFE.’ SAFE breakdowns the information generated by the LLM models into individual facts and then uses Google search results to judge the accuracy of each claim. DeepMind claims that the system is 20 times cheaper than employing human fact-checkers. This significant cost reduction could make fact-checking more scalable and accessible. Although it is too early to comment on DeepMind’s latest AI system, it can prove to be prove to be a gamechanger for fact checking AI content. More so because LLM models are notorious for creating factual errors.

Google to bring Gemini Nano AI model to standard Pixel 8 phones

There is good news for Pixel 8 owners. Google on Thursday announced that it will be soon launching Gemini Nano, the mobile-friendly version of its AI model, into standard Pixel 8 phones. Clearly, Google is backtracking from its initial decision of keeping Nano AI model restricted to only Pixel’s high end models. However, It is not entirely clear which features will be available on the Pixel 8. On the Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung S24, Gemini Nano currently enables Magic Compose in Messages and a tool that helps with message composition. Overall, this is a positive development for Pixel 8 users. It brings them closer to the feature set of the Pixel 8 Pro and showcases Google’s AI capabilities.

X’s Grok chatbot to get upgraded with Grok-1.5

Elon Musk’s ai startup xAI is giving X’s Grok chatbot a major upgrade with Grok-1.5.  Grok-1.5 is designed with better reasoning abilities, particularly for coding and math problems. This could make Grok a valuable tool for programmers and data analysts. xAI claims Grok-1.5 also boasts a significantly larger context window, allowing it to analyze longer and more complex information. The company hasn’t announced the exact launch date for Grok-1.5 update. Over all, it promises to make X’s Grok chatbot even more powerful and versatile. Grok competes directly with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

Sam Bankman-Fried gets 25 year jail for Crypto Fraud

Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of the collapsed crypto exchange FTX, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for committing a massive fraud. He was found guilty of defrauding investors and misusing customer funds. This marks a significant fall from grace for Bankman-Fried, who was once seen as a leader in the industry.  While 25 years is a serious sentence, it’s less than the maximum he could have faced under the US law.
