The real AI war might not happen in near future. But two of tech’s most brilliant and powerful personalities are in a war of words over the issue of AI. It is Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg. The future of mankind will depend on the technologies that these guys are working on. Tesla is famous for its electric car revolution. Facebook has revolutionised the way we connect. Both of the leaders from these two firms have their own opinion when it comes to AI. And both are on the extreme opposite ends.
On the one side, we have Mark Zuckerberg who’s company, Facebook has been in the forefront in the field of AI. Facebook is preparing the AI for every known task that a human can do. From learning to paint to identifying pictures. Moreover, it is developing AI robots that would fight extremists content on Facebook. AI for Facebook has become a holy grail of newly found frontiers. Moreover, it is empowering the engines of Facebook in the new millennia.
While on the other hand there is Elon Musk of Tesla who is lobbying heavily to control the spread of AI. Elon Musk has been instrumental and one of the dissidents on the open and unfettered use of AI. It seems that Elon Musk is sure that unregulated AI development can lead to Human civilization’s destruction. Elon Musk is seeking a proactive control in place of reactionary control on AI.
The war of words started last Sunday when Zuckerberg live-streamed Q&A session. In between the session when someone raised the question on AI. Zuckerberg was quick to mention that some people are going overboard with the AI associated risks. Moreover, he said that these claims are unfounded. And that he thinks that what Elon Musk believes is “pretty irresponsible”.
Furthermore, Elon has fired back by saying that Mark’s knowledge of AI is limited.
Finding AI disturbing is not unusual. All over the world firms are looking aggressively in the direction of AI use. From smart speakers to smart caps. From smart bots to AI enabled virtual assistance. In almost all of the human activities, AI has taken a big leap. Now it is not the question of when, why or how the AI will overtake every human task.
