Why is My iPad Charging so Slow

If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering why your iPad is charging so slowly. Well, there could be a few reasons. Maybe your iPad is older and the battery isn’t as good as it used to be. Or, maybe you have a lot of apps running in the background, which is draining the battery faster.

Either way, there are a few things you can do to help improve your iPad’s charging speed. First, make sure you’re using the proper charger. If you’re using an iPhone charger, for example, it’s not going to charge as quickly as the iPad charger. Second, try disabling some of the features that are draining your battery, such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. And finally, if all else fails, you can always buy a new battery!

Check if your iPad is using a low-power mode

Your iPad might be running in low-power mode, which can slow down the charging process. To check if your iPad is in low-power mode, go to Settings > Battery. If low-power mode is turned on, you’ll see “Low Power Mode” at the top of the screen.

Inspect the charging cable and port

If your iPad is charging slowly, it’s likely because of a problem with the charging cable or port. Try these steps:

  • Inspect the charging cable and port for debris. If you see dirt or debris, clean it off with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Inspect the cable for any kinks or damage that might prevent proper electrical contact.
  • Make sure that you’re using a Apple-certified Lightning to USB cable to charge your device. You can buy one from an Apple Store, an Apple Authorized Reseller, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
  • If you still need help, take your iPad and chargin cable to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for more help.

Check if other devices are connected to the same power source

It’s not just your iPad that might be affected by a slow charge. If you’re sharing the same power outlet with other devices, they could be drawing power and slowing down the charge for your iPad. To check, look for the charging icon next to each device in the status bar.

Check the iPad’s battery health

You can check the health of your iPad’s battery to see if it needs to be replaced.

From the home screen, open Settings.
Tap Battery.
Under Battery Health, you’ll see one of these:

Optimized Battery Charging: Your battery is healthy and won’t degrade quickly. This feature learns from your daily charging habits to improve results over time. Learn more about Optimized Battery Charging.
Peak Performance Capability: Your battery is currently supporting normal peak performance. Learn more about Peak Performance Capability.

Update your iPad’s software

If you’re using an iPad with iOS 12 or earlier, you might be able to speed up your charging by updating to the latest version of iOS. To update your software:

  1. Connect your iPad to power and connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  3. Tap Download and Install, or Install Now.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update.

Restore your iPad

One of the first things you should try when your iPad is charging slowly is to restart it. If that doesn’t help, you can try resetting it. If you still have problems, contact Apple Support.

You might need to update your software. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

Connect your iPad to your computer and update through iTunes:

  • Plug your iPad into your computer.
  • Open iTunes and select your iPad.
  • Click Summary, then click Check for Update.
  • Click Download and Install.

Contact Apple Support

If you’re experiencing slow charging with your iPad, there are a few things you can try. First, make sure you’re using the included 12W USB power adapter and Lightning to USB cable. If you’re using a different power adapter or cable, or if you’re not sure, you can check Apple’s website to see if it’s compatible with your iPad model.

If you’re still having trouble, try resetting your iPad. To do this, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If resetting your iPad doesn’t help, it’s best to contact Apple Support. They can help troubleshoot the problem and determine if there is a hardware issue with your iPad.

Take your iPad to an Apple Store

If your iPad is charging slowly, the first thing you should do is take it to an Apple Store. The genius bar will be able to troubleshoot your problem and determine whether it’s a software or hardware issue. If it’s a hardware issue, they may be able to fix it on the spot or give you a replacement iPad.
