Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday targeted Meta after news emerged that the social media giant may block news feed on Canadian Facebook and Instagram. Apparently, Meta’s move is in response to a proposed Canadian law that requires digital companies to pay local news agencies for publishing their news. Few months back even Google had made tweaked few features to cope with this proposed law. Trudeau argued that social media giant’s response to the proposed law is ”not just flawed, it’s dangerous to our democracy, to our economy.” The Canadian government claims that the new law, which is currently being discussed in the senate, will help in financially strengthening the Canadian news publishing agencies.
