Tricking older iPhones costs Apple $500 Mn in Lawsuit

1

Apple Agrees to $500 Mn iPhone Lawsuit Settlement

So Apple has. at least. tacitly agreed that it deliberately slowed down the older iPhones for boosting the sales of its new models. Tactically because Apple still officially maintains that it is the good guy, after the tech giant agreed to pay $500 Mn in a lawsuit. This barely comes down to compensation of measly $25 each to the owners of iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. Certainly old iPhone owners won’t be going to their banks laughing, but emerging victorious in a legal battle against a big tech company is not a small achievement. And although the settlement still requires approval of a federal judge, the underdogs clearly have an upper-hand here.

Google’s self-driving car unit, Waymo, raises yet another funding round but this particular round assumes a huge significance. The investors included some big names like Sliver Lake, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Mubadala Investment Company. Conventionally, investors don’t bet on anything unless they foresight a profit and this calls for a huge cheers for the highly nascent self-driving industry.

AT&T Launches yet another TV Offering ….yes, yet another

Several American consumers may have groaned over this news but AT&T’s claims that its latest TV offering will leave people across United States quite smitten. The telecom giant is positioning its latest TV offering as a premium TV streaming experience, an experience that will bring Youtube and Netflix on American television. This is basically AT&T’s next big move since its current offering AT&T TV Now (formerly DirecTV Now) has reached the saturation point and is already bleeding the company.

SpaceX’s Starship Prototype Implodes mid-air

So yet another rocket test of SpaceX ends in a failure. This time it was next-generation rocket, Starship, which exploded mid-air after taking off from company’s facility in Boca Chica, Texas this weekend. But this minor setback has hardly effected SpaceX’s founder Elon Musk, who tweeted “just buff it out” in response to this event. The casual tweet probably perfectly fits Musk, whose entrepreneurial spirit always thrives on adversity and challenge.
