Sequoia Surge winds up its Third batch, Surge 04 to begin from November

Sequoia Surge, a special accelerator program run by Sequoia, on Wednesday winded up its third batch. Spread across 14 weeks long, total 15 startups were selected for Sequoia Surge 03 program. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, this time almost all the sessions of Surge 03 were held online. Participants made extensive use of Surge Digital and Zoom apps for conducting the online session.

Sequoia Surge has wrapped ups its Surge 03 batch.

For all those who don’t know, Sequoia Surge is India and Southeast Asia’s answer to the popular American accelerator program Y Combinator. Started last year, Sequoia Surge aims to replicate the success of Y Combinator by giving chance to some of the promising early-stage startups from India and Southeast Asia. Sequoia pumps $1-2 Mn seed funding in all startups that are selected under this program.

This time total 15 startups were selected for the latest batch. These startups were namely Atlan, BukuKas, CoLearn, Convosight, DrinkPrime, Fittr, Hangry, Last9, Pencil, Pentester Academy, Procol, Thuocsi, Tigerhall, Tinvio and Stealth.

Sequoia said “the Surge program was founded with the principle of helping founders accelerate the process of building their companies. It is in our DNA to help founders do everything they can to achieve success.”

Commenting on Surge 03 program Varun Banka, co-founder Atlan, said “while “founders will evolve and make their own mistakes”, they now have “a community to support them along the way.”

Last9 cofounder, Nishant Modak, who made similar observation, added noting that it was “founders and companies first, in all forums of discussion”, and that it is the place to “find mentors for life.”

Now all the focus will shift to Surge 04, which is slated to begin in November of this year.

Skillmatics, Khatabook, Doubtnut, Scaler Academy and Brick&Bolt are some of the successful startups to have come from the Sequoia Surge program. These startups were part of the Surge 01 and Surge 02 program.
