Five popular websites which desperately need a re-design

Poor design of a website not only affects users using their services but also makes them jump to another website. 5 of the poorly design websites are.

We doubt if they care about ‘it’ or not(as they don’t seem to) and they are already popular(if not ubiquitous) in their respective fields without giving a damn to ‘it’ but we believe they need ‘it’…and by ‘it’,we mean……….. aRe-design

So,today,we thought to go through the bulk of popular websites and filter out five of them which seriously need a “Re-design.This will not only help their users find a lot of ease in using their services but will also help them jump to even higher peaks of traffic.

So,here goes the list….

—1—————————————————————————————

Craigslist.org

This website attracts hundreds of millions of visitors every month as it serves as a local classified for more than 500 cities in 50 countries. It was founded in the early days of web and survived the dot-com bubble stage as well.

Today, when Web 3.0 is on its way, this website still appears like the same old 1995 web service.

—2————————————————————————————

Imdb.com

It’s by far the most famous movie and TV related website commanding tens of millions of users but also the least bothered in terms of its design.Such a content-heavy website lacks effective Ajax usage along with ‘easy to browse’ system throughout the website.

—3————————————————————————————

Reddit.com

It’s the next social bookmarking site after Digg in terms of traffic at the moment but needs to take many lessons from the leading website Digg. From the “user’s profile” to the “listing of articles”,from “collaborative bookmarking” to “website UI”,they have a wide scope of improvement in every sense.

—4————————————————————————————

Dmoz.org

It is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory on the internet. It is constructed and maintained by a global community of volunteer editors. But the design is so lifeless that the users don’t find a pleasure in surfing the ODP(Open Directory Project).

—5————————————————————————————

Mininova.org

If you look out for a torrent, you look into mininova,it’s that effective but the UI isn’t that impressive.Once, the user finds the torrent he was looking for,he won’t stay anymore on mininova. By using a better UI,they can do a lot more to keep their users more engaged within the website.

—————————————————————————————

They are already successful in their own fields but sustaining the success is as crucial as achieving it.In today’s scenario, design matters a lot.And they all have deep enough pockets to get it done easily…
