OpenAI temporarily suspends ChatGPT Plus Sign-ups

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced on Twitter that the company was temporarily pausing sign-ups for its ChatGPT Plus subscription service due to overwhelming demand. Altman said that the company was “exceeding its capacity” and that it needed to “temporarily pause new sign-ups” in order to ensure that it could continue to provide a good experience for existing users. Altman added that the company was “working hard” to increase its capacity and that it hoped to resume new sign-ups “soon.” In the meantime, he encouraged interested users to join a waitlist. ChatGPT Plus is a paid subscription service that offers users a number of benefits, including faster response times, access to more features, and the ability to generate longer text responses. The service has been extremely popular since its launch in November 2022.

Nothing 2 now comes with iMessage support

Smartphone maker Nothing 2 is all set to launch a new messaging platform called Nothing Chats. Nothing Chats will allow Nothing 2 users to receive and send iMessages to iPhones. Thanks to this feature, Nothing 2 has become the first Android brand in the world to offer Apple’s iMessage like feature. This also means that Nothing 2 will send and receive messages from iPhone users with the same blue bubble icon that is typically used for iMessage conversations. Nothing Chats is still in beta testing, but it is expected to be released to the public in the near future. Although initially it will support only Nothing 2 phone users, it is likely to be available to other Android devices in the future.

DeepMind’s AI Weather can now forecast Weather Accurately and Faster

A new AI weather forecasting system developed by Google DeepMind has outperformed a widely used global weather forecasting model the ‘European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts’ or ‘ECMWF.’ Google’s DeepMind’s model, GraphCast, was able to predict weather conditions up to 10 days in advance, which were found to be more accurate and faster. Researchers and observers found that DeepMind’s AI model was able to predict weather patterns more accurately than the ECMWF model in 90% of the cases over 1,300 test areas. Additionally, GraphCast even outperformed the ECMWF’s model on more than 99% of weather variables, such as rain and air temperature. Although these are still early days, researchers believe that GraphCast could have major impact on accuracy of weather forecast in future.

YouTube creators will have to Disclose about usage of ‘ Generative AI’ in videos

YouTube is planning to require creators to mandatorily disclose when they use generative AI in their videos. The company announced this new policy in a blog post. The policy will apply to videos that use generative AI to create realistic-looking scenes that never took place or depict real people saying fictional things. Creators will be required to disclose the use of AI in the video description or in a disclaimer at the beginning of the video. The new policy is expected to go into effect in early 2024. YouTube is currently working with creators to develop guidelines for how to disclose the use of AI in their videos.

Limiting Instagram posts and Reels to close friends is now possible

Instagram has expanded its Close Friends feature to include feed posts and Reels. Until now this feature was available only to Stories and Notes. What this means that you can now limit your posts and Reels to a smaller group of people instead of sharing them with everyone who follows you. Your post or Reel will now have a green star label, so those on your Close Friends list who see it will know they’re part of an exclusive club. Sharing your posts and Reels with Close Friends is a great way to share more personal content with the people you care about most.
