Online Milk Delivery Startup Dailyninja buys WakeupBasket

MilkBasket raises Rs 20 Cr debt from Sachin Bansal

Online milk and grocery startup Dailyninja is continuing with its aggressive growth strategy. The Bengaluru headquartered startup has now acquired WakeupBasket in a cash and equity deal. The exact valuation of the deal is still not known.

Dailyninja’s latest acquisition has come closely on the heels of its recent acquisition of 4amShop. Earlier this year, it also received fresh capital from two back-to-back funding rounds led by Saama Capital and Matrix partners.

DailyNinja co-founders Sagar Yarnalkar and Anurag Gupta.

Like 4amShop, WakeupBasket also delivers milk and grocery products mostly in Hyderabad and adjoining regions. According to reports, WakeupBasket clocks 2,500 orders daily in and around Hyderabad. The startup was founded in 2015 by Satendra Pal, Sai Varaprasad later joining in as a co-founder.

With these two back-to-back acquisitions, Dailyninja’s operational presence in Hyderabad will certainly receive a massive boast.

Dailyninja competes with several well-funded startups like Milkbasket, Supr Daily and Doodhwala. However, competition in this space is likely to intensify further with high profile startups like Swiggy, BigBasket and big corporates like Future Group planning to foray into the online milk delivery market.

Analysts claim that since milk is one of the basic necessities for millions of Indian households, several companies are sensing a business opportunity. However, like is the case with most Indian markets, even milk delivery market is dominated by unorganized players.
