Netflix’s US Subscribers will now have to Shell out more Money

Netflix once again hikes price.

Netflix’s US subscribers will now have to dig deeper into their pocket to watch their favorite shows. The reason: price hike. The world’s most popular s streaming platform has once again decided to raise the subscription charges of HD & 4K plans in a bid to outdo HBO & Amazon – two of its closest rivals.

US subscribers will now have to pay monthly $10.99 (instead of existing price $9.99) to subscribe Netflix’s HD plan. Besides, 4K plan subscribers will now have to shell $13.99 (instead of existing price $11.99), which is a steep increase of 16%. However, HD plan subscribers will be hit most by the latest price hike, since it is the most popular plan among Netflix users.

Meanwhile, viewers who usually subscribe to non-HD plan of $7.99 won’t have to shell more money. This is obviously because the price of this plan continues to remain unchanged. Interestingly, this is one Netflix plan that has not witnessed any price hike since 2010.

Netflix told techcrunch.com that the latest price hike has been done to improve the overall experience of users as it continues to add new & interesting shows on its platform.

The popular streaming platform has many award winning shows under its kitty, some of which have went on to win the prestigious Emmy award. This includes serials like House of Cards, ‘Orange Is The New Black, The Crown & Stranger Things. While these shows have certainly helped the company in keeping competitors like Amazon, HBO & Hulu at bay, but have equally increased the pressure on its revenue.
