Huawei’s latest smartphone is powered by made-in-China chip
A teardown of Huawei’s new smartphone Mate 60 Pro is powered by made-in-China chip. This chip has been manufactured by a Chinese company Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. This is a major breakthrough for Huawei in its attempt to overcome the U.S. sanctions, which has stopped the Chinese company from accessing chips manufactured by the American companies. Although the made-in-China chip is reportedly not all that powerful when compared with U.S chips, it is still powerful enough to be used in a high-end smartphone. This development also signifies that China can manufacture chips on its own, which should be cause of concern for the U.S.
