Tesla sold just one electric car in South Korea in January

In a surprising revelation, Tesla managed to sell only one car in South Korea in January. The one and lone car that got sold was Model Y SUV. The dramatic decline in sales in South Korea could be attributed to several reasons, including concerns about Chinese-made vehicles among Korean consumers. It is a well-known fact that today Tesla cars are manufactured in China’s Shanghai factory. However, many Korean consumers harbour negative perceptions about the quality and safety of vehicles manufactured in China. Besides, the lack of charging infrastructure coupled with slowdown in South Korea’s EV has equally contributed to dramatic downfall in Tesla’s sales. Last but not least, the growing competition in the EV market is also giving serious headache to Elon Musk’s Tesla.
