  2. When your Chromebook starts up, sign in and wait for the desktop to load.
  3. Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open Chrome’scroshshell. Type “update_engine_client –check_for_update” (without the quotation marks), then press Enter.

Try a different microphone

If you’re having trouble getting your microphone to work on your Chromebook, there are a few things you can try.

First, make sure that your Chromebook’s microphone is not muted. To do this, open the Chrome menu and click on “Settings.” Click on the “Advanced” section, and then scroll down to the “Privacy and security” section. Make sure that the “Microphone” toggle is set to “On.”

If your Chromebook’s microphone still isn’t working, try using a different microphone. If you have a headset with a built-in microphone, try using that instead of the one built into your Chromebook. If you don’t have a headset, you can try using the built-in microphone on another device, such as a smartphone or tablet.

If you’re still having trouble getting your microphone to work, contact your Chromebook’s manufacturer for further assistance.

Check your sound settings

If you’re using a Chromebook that supports Android apps, you can try the following:

  • Open the Chrome browser.

  • Under “Privacy and security,” click Site settings.
  • Click Microphone or Camera. If you see “Block,” click it to change it to “Allow.”
  • reload the page and check if your problem is fixed.

Try a different Chrome extension

If you’re using a Bluetooth headset, speaker, or other audio device, try connecting it directly to your computer instead.

If you have an external microphone plugged in, unplug it and plug it back in. Then restart Chrome.

If you’re still having trouble, try a different Chrome extension. To do this:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More tools Extensions.
  3. On the extension you want to remove, click Remove.
