How to Disable Signed Drivers on Windows 8

Drivers are necessary whenever you install and software or hardware. So in this article we will tell you about disabling signed drivers on windows 8.

Installation of Drivers is the toughest tasks to be done in Windows 8. An example is that the installation of Wi-Fi driver. Most of the times, the driver cannot be installed and the message received is that the INF file is not digitally signed. It is one of the safety measures to stop the bad drivers to be installed in Windows 8. But, this is not going to help if you are trying to install drivers like Wi-Fi hub drivers. So, if you are trying to install any such drivers, then you need to bypass the Signature Enforcement of Drivers in Windows 8. There are 2 ways that work for sure in these cases.

In the 64 Bits editions of Windows, digitally signed drivers are mandatory; however, many of the computers are not shipped with digitally signed drivers. Regardless of the systems shipped without signed drivers, here is the solution to install these drivers.

A driver has the indication of the name of the company produced as an electronic fingerprint, and the indication of the modification details of the driver since it has been released. With such information, it adds to the security measures of preventing the bad rivers to the installed.

Method 1:

Method to Disable Driver Signature Verification Temporarily for the Windows 8.1 64 Bit

  1. Bring the Charms Bar by pressing the Windows key “Win” and the “C” key simultaneously for this.

  2. Click on the “Settings” Charm once the Charms Bar opens.

  3. Find “Change PC Settings” link. This helps to reach the Modern Control Panel.

  4. Move to Update and Recovery Section, when the Control Panel opens.

  5. You can find the “Recovery” option on the left side, and click it.

  6. An advanced start up section appears on the right side. Now, click the button “Restart now”.

  7. The computer reboots and choose the option “Troubleshoot”.

  8. Move to Advanced options—>then “Startup Settings”.

  9. Restart the computer, because this process involves modification of the configuration settings of boot time.

  10. A startup settings list to be changed will be given. Press F7 to see the “Disable driver signature enforcement”.

The process is completed and now the computer will not show any error message while the process of installing unsigned drivers.

Method 2:

In Windows 8 Disable Driver Signature Enforcement Permanently

This process involves disable driver signature enforcement in Windows 8 forever, and this is a permanent solution.

Step 1: “Run as Administrator”, by giving the Windows command prompt. For this, you need to open the Windows in the first place.

Step 2: Run the following command without using the quotes- “bcdedit- set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS”

Step 3: To complete the process, run this command without using quotes- “bcdedit- set TESTSIGNING ON”.

Step 4: Now, reboot the system and the process is completed.

To disable the settings you have changed using the method 2, start with step 1 and the following commands should be run as step 2 and 3.

Step 2: Without using the quotes run this command-“bcdedit- set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS”

Step 3: “bcdedit- set TESTSIGNING OFF” -run this command without using quotes.

Step 4: Reboot the system for completing the process.

However, you may face an issue with this method of permanently disabling unsigned drivers. Until it is disabled again, the method leaves a watermark prompting you to be in Testmode. When you want to install too many unsigned drives, then only you can opt for this method. Once the installation of unsigned drivers is over, it is advisable to disable the following settings again.
