Flipkart to rely on Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence Solution for Future Sales

Flipkart to deploy Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence Solutions.

Bengaluru based e-commerce major Flipkart has said that it will be collaborating with Microsoft to install artificial intelligence and machine learning-based solutions for all the future sales. The collaboration with technical giant will expectedly help Flipkart in overcoming technical glitches that usually occurs during heavy traffic on its website.

Flipkart, which successfully concluded Big Billion Day sales few days back, witnessed 30 times more traffic during the mega annual sales day. However, unlike in the past, this year’s Big Billion Day passed off without any technical glitch, which certainly came as a big relief for the e-commerce juggernaut. But Flipkart is committed to further improve the customer experience and sees AI and ML as a solution for the same.

Vinay YS, vice-president of engineering at Flipkart, told Economic Times that AI and ML are now becoming company’s primary focus. He stressed that both these new age technologies can be used in things like merchandising and offer placement.

Flipkart’s growing adoption of technology clearly indicates that it is serious about better management of web traffics on its website. Besides, the Bengaluru based company doesn’t seem to be in mood in giving rival Amazon any edge on technology front. The deep pocketed Seattle based online shopping giant is already leveraging technology in a big way to compete against Flipkart.

Meanwhile, Flipkart opting for Microsoft seems least surprising, considering that latter had invested $200 million in the e-commerce juggernaut earlier this year. Microsoft has already signed lucrative could servicing contract with the company.
