Emotion Recognition AI startup Entropik may raise fresh funds

Emotion Recognition artificial intelligence startup, Entropik, which is headquartered in Bengaluru, is looking to raise fresh funds. According to economic times report, the Bengaluru based startup is seeking to raise $10 Mn from Falcon Edge Capital and group of investors.

In July 2018, the company had raised pre-series A funding of $1.1 Mn from BIF (Bharat Innovation Fund), IDFC Parampara Capital and Arthavida Ventures.

Founded in 2016 by IIT Kharagpur alumni Rajan Kumar, Entropik leverages the power of AI to help brands precisely gauge the emotional and cognitive response of consumers. Consequently, this precise measurement of emotional response helps companies in enhancing the brand experience of their consumers.

The four year old company claims to converts emotion into actionable insight for their clients. According to information available on company’s official website, some of its high profile client includes Vodafone, Viacom 18 and SAP.

Its SaaS platform Affect Lab 2.0 effectively undertakes various sophisticated functions to measure company’s emotional response. This includes EEG brainwave mapping, eye tracking, facial expression so and so forth.

Entropik has so far not commented on the news report. Falcon Edge, which recently raised $300 Mn funding corpus, also chose to remain tight lipped on the matter.

Emotion AI, also known as Artificial Emotional Intelligence, is one of the talked about and sought after areas of artificial intelligence. Emotion AI is actually a process of developing sophisticated machine that are capable of responding, reading and interpreting human’s deep & complex emotions.

The term as well as the concept emotion AI dates back to 1995, when MIT media lab professor Rosalind Picard published a research paper on “Affective Computing.”
