White House reacts over Privacy concerns, ditches Youtube
The official website of the US President,Whitehouse.gov,has finally taken a drift from Youtube video embeding service to Akamai content distribution network. The main reason behind this act is the privacy concerns that were bothering government officials time and again, involved in maintaining the website.
The ‘privacy issue’ was the practice that Google follows,by placing a cookie on the user’s machine who plays any Youtube video. With Youtube player, White House was unintentionally placing cookies on all those visitors straming president’s weekly addresses, breaking the federal government’s strict rule about using cookies on government sites.
While deciding over this drift of primary video service usage at the official website,White House has taken care that none of the features and options that Youtube provides while viewing and distributing a video be compromised in their new video broadcast service.
From ‘Video embedding’, ‘Download as MP4′ & Full-screen mode, every major feature has been preserved in the new video player.Weekly presidential Address videos will remain available on multiple video sharing/streaming websites(including Youtube).

the best video player that i use is none other than VLC Player, it is free and i think it is open source too~;,
