Uhooroo lets indian ‘wannabe musicians’ have a ‘Serious’ platform !

Are you an indian with one step above ‘Bathroom Singing’ ?That is,you think you’re somewhat talented when it comes to music and looking to find a appreciative audience and loads of acknowledgement from all over the country…
If that’s the case then Uhooroo will suit you the most !
Uhooroo is an online platform which helps indian musicians collaborate and network in a community style environment and helping them find a targeted audience. It also facilitates the huge indian masses enjoy listening raw and unexplored voices.
In their own words
Ours is a platform for musicians to showcase their talent & get feedback from the music community on their auditions and for the music community to explore undiscovered indie & professional musicians
Uhooroo is one of the few online music communities that explicitly brands itself as Indian and is committed to supporting all forms of Indian music from classical through Pop.Having been in “soft-launch” for several months now, this platform primarily serves Indian musicians and people with an interest in all forms of Indian music, especially those who are into discovering independent music.
The musicians and the community can network,offer/hire services,search/form/join bands.Musicians/singers can also participate in hosted contests to compare their skills with other talents in an open forum.
Vinay Mahadik and Bharath Madhusudan, the founders of Uhooroo have future plans on scaling their service as a pre-requisite in articulating a business model.
They appear to have critically worked over click-fraud/abuse detection to prevent any sort of manipulation /ratings-abuse.And things like “Interestingness metric” and statistics associated with every audition are well implemented.

But the major draw of this website is its ‘classic design’.Nikita Chikate, the lady behind such pleasing & applaudable creative inputs makes Uhooroo stand ‘elite’ and ‘unique’ in front of other music oriented indian sites like muziboo, sunoh, shtyle and many others.
Nuts still to crack….
In a country like India where music is a passion and core musical talent resides equally in small towns and metros,Uhooroo looks just too elite and sophisticated for massive crowdsourcing. It leaves such an impression to a user that turns a potential contributor(a music fanatic, but not a excellent voice) into just a listener. This leads Uhooroo to less contributions and therefore less music inventory overall.
Indian reality shows to showcase singing talents are already in abundance today(Indian Idol,SaReGaMa etc) and if Uhooroo’s focus is just to showcase remarkable but unnoticed musicians(and not every music passionate) then they must go for a tie-up/collaboration with some indian music industry label like Tips, Sony BMG, Saregama or T-Series to make Uhooroo reach indian population in a big way(music brands can provide strong financial backing required for exhaustive nationwide marketing). This may turn ‘Uhooroo’ as a big draw for ‘wannabe indian singers’.
Uhooroo seems to have a great potential to establish itself as a premium online marketplace to showcase musical talent & get realised by some music label in indian music industry provided it gets some helping hand from some established music label and therefore promote itself as a place where a musician can expect more than just accolades.
