Twitter Scam On The Swing : Just Stay Away From Twittercut
It’s pretty enticing for a twitter user if somebody whom you follow tweets “OMG I just got over 1000 followers today from Twittercut [link]”. That’s exactly the same which was happening all day long and it was nothing more than a ‘Scam’. The moment you click on the link that follows the above mentioned enticing message, you’re taken to Twittercut‘s website where you’re encouraged to enter your Twitter username and password.
Now here’s a catch ! The moment you enter your username and passsword into Twittercut, it tweets a message to all your followers from your account : “OMG I just got over 1000 followers today from Twittercut [ Twittercut site link]” without your consent. And forget about those 1000 followers coming our way anytime soon.
There’s a snapshot of a guy’s account on Twittercut that shows nearly half a million followers, which gives even more push for anybody to atleast try out the scammy service but if you actually go to that Twitter account, you would realise that it has already been banned by Twitter.
Anyways, with more awareness spreading on Twitter about this scam, the scam seems to be getting in control. Twitter has done its job well in reacting over this scam by banning most of the suspicious accounts associated with this scam. The effected Twitter accounts are likely to be given a ‘Password Reset’ by Twitter.
