Apple has finally been granted the patent for Multi-touch UI,which it filed back in april last year.Multi-touch screen,a technology that enables a screen to simultaneously recognise multiple touch points,was first implemented by Apple in Macbook and iPhone and now,it can be seen in Microsoft Surface and Asus EEE PC and few other gadgets as well.

But the highlight of CES 09,Palm Pre was indirectly accused of violating the Apple’s patent rights by Apple COO Tim Cook because one of the remarkable and most talked about features of Pre was Multi-touch.Now,in the situation when Apple has officially been awarded the patent rights for Multi-touch technology,it could mean BIG trouble for Palm.

On the other side,Palm has clearly denied any “Rip off” elegation and says it has its set of legal defenses to defend their innovation.As Palm Pre is set to launch publicly in the first quater of 2009,Palm isn’t looking to compromise on any part,as far as  product launch is concerned,specially when ‘Pre’ has raised brighter hopes for the troubled company.Most of the tech journalists wrote in favor of Pre(we included) at this year’s CES.
