MouseHoverTime

It is registry attribute of Windows 8 which calculates the time taken by the system for display a pop-up menu. You can adjust this registry attribute in order to improve the appearance of pop-up menu whenever you hover the mouse over a menu. The steps to do it are as below,

  • Open the windows registry by typing “regedit” on the Run windows. Alternatively you press Windows button + Q and type the same keyword.
  • Now search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER-> Control Panel and then Choose Mouse. Now search for MouseHover Time property under this list and right click to modify the property.
  • You can alter the time by entering an input of ValueData in range of 0-20 milliseconds. Once you decrease this filed to lower value, you will see that popup menus get displayed faster on hovering your mouse over them.

Now you should restart your computer in order for the new settings to become effective.

MenuShowDelay

This is another registry attribute which helps to alter the time for showing the menu items when you move the mouse pointer over it. This value is set as 400 by default and you can alter it according to your requirements. The steps for altering it as below,

  • Make Windows 8 Faster - How toOpen the windows registry by typing “regedit” on the Run windows. Alternatively you press Windows button + Q and type the same keyword.
  • Now search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER-> Control Panel and then Choose Mouse. Now search for MenuShowDelay property under this list and right click to modify the property.
  • Now change the value field to lesser value for reducing the mouse pointer delay.

Also, whenever you uninstall any application, some registry keys will not get deleted properly. You can use some registry cleaning software to clean up the registry keys and remove any unwanted data. This will also boost the performance of your Windows 8 OS.

Make the Startup of Windows 8 Faster

Usually Windows 8 operating system takes lot of time to boot up initially if you have huge number of applications installed in your system. In order to improve the startup performance, you can follow below steps,

  • Press Ctrl+Shft+Esc to open Task manager.
  • Now click the startup Tab present on top menu. Once you open the startup windows you will find the list of Apps which are enabled during startup, the publisher and Startup Impact.
