How to Connect Wireless Keyboard to Windows 8

In this article we will tell you how to connect Wireless keyboard to Windows 8. Here’s the complete procedure:

Having a wireless keyboard gives you a greater opportunity to be convenient at your desk. Wireless keyboards are more flexible as it can be used without getting restricted by the cable.  The process of installing one wireless keyboard is very simple, just unpack the equipment off the box and follow this:

  • The Box: The product box typically contains a wireless keyboard, wireless receiver, batteries, software CD and manufacturer instructions. In case there is something which is not there in the box, you should contact either the manufacturer or the retailer. Individual products require separate specifications. You should make sure that you meet the ones required for your product.
  • Batteries: The wireless keyboards are not capable of receiving power off the computer unlike wired ones. This is why wireless keyboards require batteries. You have to turn it over and then remove the cover. Put the new batteries in as directed.
  • Receiver: The chief component which connects the wireless keyboard with the computer is the receiver. It receives the signal from the keyboard and allows it to connect with the system.
  • Distance (Interference): The receiver should be placed minimum 20 cm (8 inches) away from the interference sources like
the monitor or the computer case or any such item. Other items include fluorescent lights, cabinets, metal filing, fans etc.
  • Distance (Keyboard): The receiver must be placed anywhere between 20 cm (8 inches) to 1.8 m (6 feet) from your keyboard. You should not connect the wireless receiver to your computer yet. You are going to do the same after some time.
  • Software: Nearly every new hardware piece has software accompanied with it. You should install the software. The CD typically contains the software and the drivers required for Windows 8. When you insert the CD in the drive, there starts the installation automatically.
  • Plug it in: Turn your PC on and follow the instructions on screen to install the software from the CD. Now that the computer is
turned on, you have to plug the given USB connector of the receiver to any available USB port of the computer case. If you do not have any available USB port, you may require buying one USB hub that is going to make the computer accessible to additional ports.
  • Configuration: When you plug the receiver in, the computer starts configuring the hardware. After the process of configuration is complete, you are likely to view a message which says that you can use the new hardware now. However, the message text is not exclusive. The language may differ but the meaning will not.
  • Testing the keyboard: Now you have to test whether the keyboard is working properly. You can try typing something with the wireless keyboard. If that has been installed properly, you are most likely to use the keyboard with no difficulty. You should type every key on the keyboard to make sure that there is no problem in the product.
  • Troubleshoot: If your keyboard does not function properly, you should check whether there is any interference. You should also check if your equipment is not beyond the receiver’s range.
