It seems that Google services are running low on maintainence these days.From the Nightmarish Google Search Bug,Gmail outage,Google Calendar troubles and latest being Adsense outage,Google isn’t doing enough to keep their prime services steadily up.

And now when users can themselves see if a Google service is running fine or not(using Google Apps Status Dashboard),Google is left with lesser space to do anymore outages.

And the fact that services like Google Search and Gmail have turned so essential for millions across the globe,service unavailability for even an hour troubles users big time.

On Google’s front,the response has mostly been quick to such service issues and seeing the remedial actions taken on the recent outages,the chances are rare that the outages will occur soon.

But such mishaps have raised a big question over the reliability of web services.If its Google today,it can be any other popular web service tomorrow.

As more and more websites/blogs are integrating Google’s (& other) web services such as ‘Google Custom Search’,'Google Friend Connect’ etc,any service disruption influences a lot more sites than ever.

And when tech industry is increasingly relying on technologies such as ‘Cloud computing’,such an outage by any cloud service provider can trouble plenty of cloud apps/services at one go.

The only solution to minimize such mishaps is to keep the service uptime almost close to 100%(dedicating more resources,both active and stand-by) and learning from past mishaps/outages and keeping a turnkey solution to it.
